What we Believe

OUR DOCTRINES
At Saks Baptist Church, we recognize that methods and strategies may change over time, but certain core doctrines are non-negotiable. These include:

  • The inspiration and absolute reliability of the Bible, as preserved in the King James Version for today’s English-speaking readers.

  • The Virgin Birth of Christ and the substitutionary nature of His sacrificial death.

  • The bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ and His imminent return to the earth.

  • The person and work of the Holy Spirit.

  • Salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone.

  • The eternal security of every true believer.

  • The autonomy of the local church.

  • The responsibility of every church to support foreign missions.

  • The reality of both heaven and hell.

  • The recognition of two church ordinances: baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

Our Values

In addition to our core doctrines, Saks Baptist Church seeks to live by the following values:

  • We believe that Biblical preaching and teaching are the primary means through which lives are transformed.

  • We believe that lost people matter to God and, therefore, should matter to us.

  • We believe every Christian should serve in the church according to their spiritual gifts, willingly setting aside personal rights to take on responsibilities as they grow in maturity.

  • We believe life change occurs most effectively within small groups, such as Sunday School classes.

  • We believe the church should pursue excellence in all it does, honoring God and inspiring others.

  • We believe Christians should actively engage culture as agents of change without being absorbed by it.

  • We believe the church should strengthen and support the foundation of the family.

  • We believe worship is a daily lifestyle, arising as we see God for who He is and ourselves for who we are.

  • We believe Scripture, not tradition, is the ultimate authority in all personal and church matters.

  • We believe in a strong commitment to the Great Commission, actively sharing the Gospel worldwide through foreign missions.

  • We believe in maintaining a traditional approach to church dress and worship, reflecting reverence and respect for God.
